The basic SWAT course is designed for individuals who have been recently assigned to SWAT and have not completed basic SWAT Training. Students will be introduced and instructed in basic SWAT Tactics and techniques. This course is dynamic and will require the students’ participation both in and out of the classroom.
CONCEPTS & SKILLS:
• Historical perspective of SWAT
• Team organization and structure
• Chemical agents and less lethal weapons and munitions familiarization
• Covert movement techniques
• Tactics used to resolve a barricaded gunman situation
• High Risk Warrant Service
• Diversionary Device Overview
• Building Entry/ Ballistic Shield FAM
• Building Clearing
• Perimeter and Containment Issues
• Tactical Medical Considerations
EQUIPMENT NEEDED & PROPER ATTIRE:
• Eye & Ear Protection
• Pen & Paper
• Gas Mask w/ appropriate filter
• Gloves (leather, Nomex, Kevlar or a combination)
• Glasses (if you wear contacts)
• Towel and/or change of clothes (for OC contamination & CS exposure drills)
• Hydration source
• Sunscreen-suggested
• State/Government ID-suggested
• Primary Weapon
• (Rifle/Pistol) 300rds-Pistol 300rds rifle or subgun
• Body Armor / Entry Vest
• Boots
NO RED Shirts. NO Shorts or baggy shirts. NO open toe shoes.
Recommended Not Required:
• Light Mount for Weapon
• Handheld Light Source SWAT Uniform
• Training weapon
LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS March 9, 2026 (call if you miss the cutoff date). Any cancellation must be received 30 days prior to the start date. Any cancellation after this period will incur the full cost of the registration, unless otherwise approved by TOG.
